The Story:

"I don’t want you to make art anymore" is something someone close to me once said. The statement was intended to be hurtful and it stung. Telling an artist to stop creating feels like asking someone to stop breathing. So I took the statement and did exactly what I was told not to do: Make Art

The original sentence is repeated across the entire canvas. However, by using magnetic squares that narrative can be changed to convey a more positive message such as “make art”, “I want you to make art”, etc. Viewers are invited to interact with the piece and change the narrative. This serves as a reminder that we are the architect of our own future. We arrange the pieces and place them where we see fit.
